We would like to say a big thank you to our members, trainees, and staff who came to our Social Exposome Cluster retreat at Bodega Ridge Resort on Galiano Island on October 2nd and 3rd.
The retreat included presentations from 19 faculty members on research projects related to the goals of the cluster, which provided an excellent forum to identify new opportunities for interdisciplinary research collaborations and grant applications. The retreat also included discussions and planning for the Cluster's 5-year strategic plan and a review of the progress and outcomes to date. A special highlight was a presentation form the Cluster's Trainee Steering Committee on the initiatives they have undertaken to support trainees in the cluster and their future plans for enhancing trainee engagement and professional development opportunities.
A huge thank you to all those who attended and contributed so many ideas and thoughtful comments. We would also like to thank Kim Schmidt and Andrew Cuddihy for their organizational support and Catherine Siegler for providing real-time captioning of all discussions. Lastly, we would like to thank the owners and staff at Bodega Ridge Resort for providing the perfect venue for the retreat and delicious food. Overall, the retreat was a huge success and it is anticipated this will be an annual endeavour!
